K-3 Year End Learning Outcomes 

 

From learning letters and numbers in Kindergarten to
analyzing, solving, and explaining ideas in 3rd grade,

every child grows at Weber School District.

We are building confident readers, problem-solvers, and citizens.

 

Goals for students by grade level:

KINDERGARTEN

Reading

  • Know 26 letters & sounds by December 1st
  • Read 30 (CVC) closed syllable words with 80% accuracy  

Math

  • Identify numbers to 20 by December 1st
  • Fluently add and subtract within 5

Science

  • Observe and record the world using the 5 senses

Social Studies

  • Follow rules and show citizenship
  • Identify needs and wants
 

1ST GRADE

Reading

  • Read mixed single syllable words at 30 wpm
  • Read grade-level passages at 67 wpm with 97% accuracy

Math

  • Fluently add and subtract within 20

Science

  • Ask questions
  • Describe patterns

Social Studies

  • Identify roles of citizens
  • Recognize symbols and places

2ND GRADE

Reading

  • Read grade-level passage at 104 wpm with 99% accuracy

Math

  • Fluently add and subtract within 100, including regrouping

Science

  • Explain why things happen using evidence

Social Studies

  • Describe how communities work together
  • Use basic map skills
 

3RD GRADE

Reading

  • Read grade-level passage at 118 wpm with 99% accuracy

Math

  • Add and subtract within 1,000, with regrouping
  • Multiply and divide within 100 

Science

  • Do investigations and explain results

Social Studies

  • Explain the development of Utah & the U.S.

fluently=quickly and accurately without help
CVC=Consonant-Vowel-Consonant
closed syllable=short vowel word ending in a consonant (fun, dad, sun, with, much)
mixed single syllable=one syllable words (cat, fork, make, team, me)
